Another Example of "Liberal Government"

So after three railroad accidents in six months, the San Antonio region will be getting ten more inspectors according to the San Antonio Express-News (11/17/2004). Now mind you, the editorial suggests that this is a good thing--more regulation. Union Pacific obviously can't be trusted to do it own their own. The Texas senators (Hutchinson and Cornyn) even arranged for a meeting with the Federal Railroad Administration to get things moving.

But what about the free market? What about big government being "bad" and bigger (the number of inspectors is going to increase by over 200%) being worse? No matter under what auspices the FRA was created, I'm pretty sure that any federal inspectors of business falls under liberal interference. Maybe this is just a onetime slip by Republican senators and a newspaper that supported Bush.
